First strategy meeting for a "community portal"
Saturday, September 1st, Heidelberg-Wieblingen congregation: Seven laptops, one video projector and a big table covered with food and drinks along with twelve youth. A LAN-party at church? Or a meeting of skilful web developers? The latter was true, maybe this was the reason that lights were turned on and the windows were widely open.
On Saturday, 1st of September some youth held a meeting at the congregation of Heidelberg to bring a “Community Portal” for the European Youth Day into being. As a project of the EJT 2009 Düsseldorf gGmbH the page is intended for bringing together the youth prior to this major event: Socializing, staying in touch, discussing in groups or simply virtual chatting – the website should cover as many scopes as possible and feature diversity.
The participants had plenty of ideas but after every suggestion they carefully glanced at the programmers who either nodded or pointed out possible difficulties. Needless to say that as much youth should be addressed as possible – technical as well as focal aspects were discussed in the group. It took about eight hours to draw up a rough concept and timetable. Now it’s time to put it into action.
But in spite of all the discussions the group eventually agreed on one fact: The whole project will take up lot of time. The completion is scheduled for 2008.
