Christmas bazaar in Advent

The youth of the Munich South district in Southern Germany were agreed: we must make a plan to help finance the journey to the European Youth Day in Düsseldorf – the best idea an action plan for each month! No sooner said than done. Promptly at the 1st Advent, the youth of the Giesing congregation displayed home-made articles, cakes and biscuits, all nicely decorated, which they had previously made in record-breaking time, for sale at a Christmas bazaar.

“Best sellers” of the bazaar were the most varied Advents wreaths, followed by lanterns, childrens’ colouring books, Christmas cards and a reading book for December with 31 stories and thoughts for each day of the month.

Happy Hour

The numerous visitors to the bazaar lingered happily with mulled wine and biscuits in the church, rummaged through the articles for sale under the glow of the fairy lights and the soft Christmas background music and the young experience sellers didn’t have to wait until “happy hour” to get really warmed up.

After just two hours the last items were sold and a cash balance was made. The result was staggering: the takings, amounting to 1,400 Euros, was a reward which was much more than expected.

Following this success, the youth can hardly wait for the next planned action to come. Plans are already in hand.
