Bikers‘charity drive for the youth

In the middle of August around 150 New Apostolic motor cyclists met with their friends and guests in Gummersbach (in the district Cologne East, district church of North Rhine-Westphalia). At the end of the day 1200 Euros had been donated, which will go toward the European Youth Day.

The day began in Gummersbach on 17th August 2008 with a communal divine service. Afterwards the congregation’s rector and Evangelist Klaus-Werner Faulenbach invited all present to enjoy coffee and cake or a grilled German sausage with mixed salads and thus to mix in convivial fellowship.

Invitation to donate

“We have paid for the sausages. The cake and salads have been donated by the Gummersbach congregation,” he revealed and so received hefty applause from the bikers. The bikers were then given the opportunity to make a donation for the victuals in the offering box provided. “Give generously”, he added. The day’s profit was to be given in the furtherance of the European Youth Day 2009.
At the end of the day the result was clear: 1,200 Euros remained after all cost deductions. The sum has been transferred to the charity account of the European Youth Day.

“We rejoice greatly over such actions”, Gunter Schröter, a member of the EYD Sponsoring project group, said. “The European Youth Day depends on donations and it is naturally good news when such events foster the chance to do some good for our youth”. For your attention: further challengers are sought!

Current donations received: 1.3 million

To date around 1.3 million Euros donations have been received for the European Youth Day. The organisers hope for further support so that the weekend in May 2009 may be a total success (see also the interview with Apostle Rüdiger Krause of 20th July 2008). Information on donations may be found in the link “Support” on this website.
