Hall 7.0 – Editorial and activity circles
Over the first weekend in October youth members from across Germany met in the Ruhr Valley for the following reason: the configuration of the exhibition hall 7.0 for the European Youth Day. According to the guidelines of the Planning Committee all youth editors from Europe are to find Hmployment within it’s vicinity. The purpose of this meeting was to figure out the first concepts.
After arrival on Friday, the participants were introduced to all the plans involving the European Youth Day, which will take place on the 21st - 24th May 2009, in Düsseldorf. On Saturday everyone went on board a train and travelled to Düsseldorf for sightseeing. There was a lot of hustle and bustle within the exhibition halls as Messe RehaCare had opened their doors. This meant the youth could gather impressions first hand of how to configure and style the exhibition stalls.
Aim: Be active!
Back in Dortmund – the location of the board meeting was the administration office of the New Apostolic Church Northrhine Westphalia – the focus was on brainstorming and bringing the first ideas to paper and then to start to structure them. It was clear very early on: The basic recommendation to represent the youth editors didn’t go far enough for the youth members. And: Hall 7.0 shall not just purely serve as an exhibition hall, but rather put more priority on added value. The Aim: Be active!
The youth members spoke out in agreement with one another that in this hall Editors and Activity circles shall come together, present themselves, exchange communication and offer further education. For this purpose the group is planning a forum where lectures, workshops and discussions on stage can take place. Here not only youth, but also experts and external professionals can talk together.
Next meeting: January 2008
Further details and ideas will be developed and structured by various sub groups within the next few weeks. The first queries to be addressed to the editors and activity circles are to be expected in early 2008.
The meeting in Dortmund was concluded with a visit to the youth seminar in Hochdahl for interested participants. The next meeting is scheduled for January 2008.
