The European Youth Day on eBay

I would like to have a flag of the European Youth Day! What has happened to the Congress Center signposts? Where can I still buy a welcoming gift? The organisation team of the European Youth Day have been receiving dozens of e-mails with these or similar questions since Sunday. The delay in answering has come to an end: many items from the European Youth Day are now available on eBay and can be purchased by auction.

After the European Youth Day, there are still more than 100 welcoming gifts left over and some copies of the Youth Day newspaper "eyd:news". Naturally, there are also hundreds of decoration articles.

Banner from the North entrance area

An example: the welcoming banner from the North entrance area. Whether arriving at the train platform or from the car and bus parking areas, the youth were greeted to the European Youth Day with large banners. “Welcome to the European Youth Day” was their message – and in many different languages. These large banners (8.90 metres wide and 4.15 metres high and also 8.80 metres by 2.90metres) are being auctioned on eBay.

25 flags flew in the city and around the exhibition centre with the logo of the European Youth Day. These have all been gathered in and placed in storage. So also have the over 150 guide signs and flag signs, indicating the way to the event, which were scattered all over Düsseldorf. They will also be sold over the coming days and weeks.

An assortment of electronic items will also be sold. They were used as accessories for the administration staff and for the helpers. Amongst the items are mobile telephones (Motorola w156), headsets, loudspeakers and network cables.

Vendor is the European Youth Day Company

All the auctioned items will start at the price of 1 Euro and will run for ten days. Postal charges will vary, dependent on the size of the articles. In Germany they lie between 3.90 Euros for a postal packet and 100 Euros for the banners when delivered by freight transport.

The vendor is the EJT 2009 Düsseldorf gGmbH, which is the firm responsible for the Youth Day event. The proceeds from the various auctions will be used to recover some of the EYD costs and to relieve the burden on the district churches as financial bodies.

The items to be auctioned can be found under under the search string “EJT”. The shop of the EJT 2009 Düsseldorf gGmbH is under the following link: During the next few days new and further articles will be displayed for sale.
