Chief Apostle canvasses for the European Youth Day
“See you in Düsseldorf – wir sehen uns in Düsseldorf”. This was the message from Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber to the New Apostolic youth throughout Europe. On 26th September the spiritual head of the New Apostolic Church visited the exhibition centre in Düsseldorf, including the LTU arena. Here was the chance for a short advertising spot for the official website.
Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber was impressed as he entered the centre area of the LTU arena during the visit to the event site. He stood on the topmost row against a metal railing and remained silent for a few minutes – possibly contemplating the stands filled with 40,000 youth. This should become actuality with the divine service on 24th May 2009, the end and highlight of the European Youth Day.
“I look forward to seeing you!”
It is the Chief Apostle’s wish that as many European New Apostolic youth as possible are able to take part in the Youth Day in Düsseldorf. “I look forward to seeing you – I hope that you are also eager”, said the Chief Apostle with visible enthusiasm and eager anticipation as he made a short advertising video for the European Youth Day.
Two days later Chief Apostle Leber also promoted the European Youth Day through a divine service for ministers, which was broadcast European wide by satellite. The head of the church said, “I have had the opportunity in the past couple of days to view the premises and the stadium where the European Youth Day 2009 will take place; in particular the central events such as the divine service. I must say that I am impressed by the premises alone.(…)The conditions are ideal for a wonderful Youth Day. Now the youth just have to be there. Please inject life into it, give your support that we may inspire this grand occasion to give impulse in wider circles. May this be achieved within and without. I ask here also for your support.”
Timely registration is essential
The organisers currently place importance on registration European-wide, so that the planning of catering and overnight accommodation can move ahead. Apostle Franz-Wilhelm Otten, the business head of the EJT2009 Düsseldorf gGmbH, had already pleaded, at the meeting of the planning staff, to the representatives of the European district churches that they should promote the rapid registration process by the youth and their custodians (we have reported).
The advertising spot with the Chief Apostle in the LTU arena can now be seen on the official website and may be downloaded.
