Coordination meeting of the project groups from NRW
Only 255 days until the European Youth Day 2009 in Düsseldorf! With this figure District Elder Helmut Polzin, the project manager for the European Youth Day 2009, opened the meeting of the project group representatives from the district church North Rhine-Westphalia, which took place on 8th September in the seminar centre at Hochdahl (district of Velbert).
The number 255 reminds us that we are nearing the home-straight and that not so many months remain until the European Youth Day 2009 begins on 21st May 2009 in Düsseldorf.
Coordination in the project groups
For this reason the project groups and supervisors from the district church North Rhine-Westphalia met to give status reports and to allow the other project groups an insight of the planning and execution of each task within each group's area of responsibility. This is important because much of the activity and planning is inter-related. Also, foreseeable problems could be directly discussed and solutions sought.
Everything is being organised to ensure the smoothest possible running of the European Youth Day 2009 and an unforgettable experience for the youth.
Many project groups are preparing the way for the EYD.
All the project groups which are occupied with the direct preparation at the exhibition centre in Düsseldorf and with the local organisation are resident in North Rhine-Westphalia. Amongst these are the project groups for the exhibition centre (management: District Evangelist i.r. Wolfgang Bleutgen), for the arena (management: Bishop Manfred Bruns) and for the accommodation (management: District Evangelist Helmut Manthey). Added to these are those who work directly to the project management, the so-called "supervisors".
The remaining project groups are led by representatives from other district churches; for example, the PG for sponsoring and communication under Apostle Rüdiger Krause (North Germany) and the PG for catering under Apostle Bernd Koberstein (Rhineland-Palatinate/Hessen/Saarland). The project groups for content (management: Apostle Edmund Stegmeier) and for music (Apostle Hans-Jürgen Bauer) consist of a "mixed bag". Here the group members come from all district churches and work together on the programme for the European Youth Day.
Visit by Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber
At the end of September 2008, to be exact on 25th and 26th September, the planning management meets once more in Düsseldorf. The leaders of all the project groups will attend. The meeting will be chaired by District Apostle Armin Brinkmann, head of the New Apostolic Church in North Rhine-Westphalia.
Apart from representatives of the European district churches, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber is also expected to attend, where he will be informed at first hand over the preparations for the European Youth Day.
